The Team: PTI Inspection Division
This position is as a team member of PTI’s Inspection Division, which is responsible for designing and developing the most sophisticated non-destructive container closure system inspection technologies in the world.
The Role: Mechanical Engineer

A collaborative, dynamic, creative, deep thinking and technically intelligent professional is being sought to provide “hands-on” mechanical engineering expertise to our engineering team and to customer sites. This position is responsible for technical support, effectively working through assembly challenges and providing improvement ideas to products after working on machines in the field. We are looking for candidates who are comfortable working with mechanical parts, interfacing with electro-mechanical systems, and interfacing with SolidWorks. The role requires practical thinking around all aspects of engineered solutions.
The best candidates meet these minimum requirements:
- Must have legal permission to work in the U.S. and have a valid passport.
- Degree from a four-year secondary education program.
- 2-3 years of mechanical engineering and design experience.
- Experience designing for assembly and manufacturing. DFX
- Experience designing parts utilizing the following manufacturing methods:
- Machining
- Sheet Metal
- 3D printing
- Performed a stress analysis utilizing finite element analysis (FEA) to optimize a part.
- Specified standard components for use in a mechanical system.
- Created assembly drawings and part drawings for fabrication
- Performed a stack up tolerance analysis
- Proficiency in CAD Software (SolidWorks preferred).
- Understanding of Electro-Mechanical Systems
- Knowledge of sensors and use cases in industrial applications.
- Experience writing technical reports and documentation to support internal and external customers.
- Candidates must present cases of past successful projects and samples of past technical reports.
The following candidate attributes are preferred:
- Experience in designing components for automation and handling systems.
- Project management experience.
- Coordinated with external customers and provided a technical service.
- Experience with MRP/ERP and PDM systems to generate and maintain bill of materials for products.
- Multi-lingual (Spanish, German, French beneficial.)
