Leaders in container closure integrity
PTI understands that container closure integrity of parenteral products is essential during the entire product lifecycle until it reaches the patient. PTI’s non-destructive inspection technologies verify container closure system integrity with deterministic quantitative test methods for vials, ampoules, syringes, cartridges and auto-injectors.

Non-destructive seal and leak testing equipment for multi-cavity blister packs, sachets, and induction sealed bottles
Blister packaging is a common packaging format for both pharmaceutical and nutraceutical solid dose products, and is a very convenient delivery format. In today’s drug delivery system where, certain drugs are extremely sensitive to moisture and oxygen, it is critical to test the package integrity of blister packs to ensure that the integrity of the product is not compromised. Induction sealed bottles is another alternative container format for tablets and capsules. PTI offers a range of non-destructive test method solutions based on the package specifications and test sensitivity requirements.
Tyvek® & Porous Packaging
Tyvek® has been known to provide superior microbial barrier under the most rigorous, highly contaminated conditions. Tyvek® is made of continuous, randomly oriented high-density polyethylene (HDFE) filaments. This unique structure gives Tyvek® greater resistance to microbial penetration than other packaging materials. PTI’s VeriPac package integrity testing method is a non-destructive alternative to the conventional water bath leak test or bubble leak test method. This ASTM Test Method F2338 is also referenced in ISO 11607, USP 1207 guidance and FDA recognized consensus standard.
Flexible Packaging
Flexible packaging is one of the fastest-growing segments in the packaging industry in the last two decades. It combines the best qualities of plastic, film, paper and aluminum foil and delivers a wide range of packaging solutions. Flexible packaging occupies less space and is now a convenient option for liquid packaging. Closure for flexible packaging systems is accomplished by sealing or double seaming. Pharmaceutical, nutritional, food and beverage industries are the major consumers of flexible packaging systems. Using PTI’s Seal-Scan® or Seal-Sensor™ technology, a linear scan analysis of the seal area can be produced in seconds, detecting channel defects, misaligned seals, incomplete and missing seals immediately after the package have been sealed. PTI’s VeriPac vacuum decay technology is specialized in testing the integrity of the entire package for defects non-destructively.
IV bags
A flexible sterile packaging, like an IV Bag, needs to undergo integrity testing over the course of its product life cycle since failure to do so could compromise both the sterility of the container and patient safety. With PTI’s VeriPac vacuum decay technology, IV bags can be tested successfully. A differential pressure transducer leak test device can be used to find package leaks and unseen defects using PTI's VeriPac vacuum decay technology. The technique doesn't involve sample preparation and isn't subjective or invasive.
Bottles & Containers (Plastics)
Bottle Leak testing is what guarantees product quality while preventing related problems of discarded product, inventory returns, and costly damage. The importance of bottle leak testing is that it guarantees the integrity of the bottles or containers before the filling process. Leak test solutions need to be robust, reliable and sensitive. PTI’s VeriCon series offers solutions for inline linear leak testing as well as trimmer configurations for blowmolders. VeriCon is one of the most reliable and longest standing technologies at PTI.
