The Team: PTI Inspection Division

This position is as a team member of PTI’s Inspection Division, which is responsible for designing and developing the most sophisticated non-destructive container closure system inspection technologies in the world.

The Role: Purchasing Manager
Overview

If the answer is yes, I would encourage you to consider joining PTI. PTI is looking for a Purchasing Manager who will support PTI’s rapidly growing manufacturing operation.

We develop inspection technologies that perform quality control inspection of packaging with a high degree of precision and reliability supporting the food, pharmaceutical, and medical device industries.

The Purchasing Manager role will engage suppliers and build lasting relationships while reviewing technical offerings, negotiating effective pricing and terms as well as keeping our supplier base accountable to our business agreements. In addition, this position will manage our supplier database including adding new suppliers and moving on from suppliers who do not meet business needs while supporting the operation with effective inventory systems. The Purchasing Manager will effectively drive all aspects of resource acquisition for PTI to achieve its objectives. The successful candidate for this position will have experience in the manufacturing industry and a strong understanding of supply chain management concepts .

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Manage an efficient and accurate system for monitoring all purchase orders.
  • Manage all open purchase orders and communicate key orders to stakeholders.
  • Deliver a weekly purchase order report to key stakeholders.
  • Alert stakeholders when orders have been filled and invoices from vendors have been issued.
  • Review quality of product supplied by vendors and working with suppliers to resolve quality or performance issues.
  • Answer vendor questions and provide them with additional order documentation or engineering specifications needed.
  • Work with the operations team to efficiently manage inventory.
  • Assist the operations team with maintaining non-inventory material levels.
  • Actively manage PTI’s vendor list and identify new potential vendors.
  • Determine PTI requirements for preferred vendors.
  • Share best practices within the supplier landscape to continually improve PTI performance.
  • Schedule and execute quarterly visits for key suppliers and annual visits for secondary suppliers
  • Process purchasing requisitions from the engineering and operations department and create purchase orders for those requisitions.
  • Assist Shipping/Receiving department with their daily activities where needed.
  • Be a contributing member in improving sourcing strategies.
  • Issue RFQs and compare supplier quotes for commercially available items.
Qualifications and skills:
  • Associates Degree in Accounting or a related field required.
  • Strong negotiating skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of MS Excel, MS Word, and industry-standard purchase order software platforms.
  • Strong knowledge and experience working with ERP systems and accounting programs such as Quickbooks.
  • Detail-oriented as well as 10,000 foot view vision-oriented.
  • Ability to work well with cross-functional teams.
